Jamie Carragher has shared a text message Gary Neville sent him after Jurgen Klopp announced he was leaving Liverpool, with the Manchester United legend targeting his Sky Sports colleague. Jamie Carragher has revealed that Gary Neville joked Liverpool would be “trembling for the next 30 years” after Jurgen Klopp left the club.
Klopp announced last week that he will step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season and Manchester United legend Neville couldn’t resist criticizing Sky Sports team-mate and former Manchester United defender Carragher upon learning the news.
I wake up and hear Klopp,” Carragher said on the Stick to Football podcast. “Then [Neville] texted me saying he was skiing there. Can I read what he sent me? “I’m in Courchevel. Your manager is gone and now the next 30 years are yours. ”But Neville was also quick to pay tribute to Klopp and his influence during his time at Liverpool.
“I think he is the most special manager and a fantastic person not only for Liverpool but for the Premier League,” Neville said. “He connected Liverpool, the city, the fans, the team and the spirit. For seven or eight years, everything was great. “I remember watching him grow up the first few years and thinking, ‘Oh, it’s true.’ And he did it right then and there.
What do you think of his replacement?Former Liverpool midfielder. “There are no secrets. Everyone seems to have a plan going forward,” he said. “Sir Alex Ferguson has chosen the next manager. He thinks bringing in David Moyes will help the club. Who should come in, I think it should be Xabi Alonso.”
“He has very little managerial experience. He has only played 60 or 70 games but he will have the club immediately. Not only because he is an ex-Liverpool player but also because of the respect I have for him. “What he has achieved as a player in just a year and a half at Bayern Leverkusen is incredible.
“When he arrived they were in the relegation zone and he qualified for the Champions League last year and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League. “This season they are leading the league and the Europa League.”
