At Duke, summer isn’t just about workouts and offseason training. Around Durham, summertime might as well be called “Brotherhood Time.”
That’s because year after year, former Blue Devils make it a point to come back home. They drop in on practice, sit in on film sessions, and pass down lessons to the current 2026-27 Duke squad. It’s one of the things that makes Duke, Duke — the Brotherhood never really leaves.
Recently, two big names returned to campus. Jabari Parker and Jayson Tatum were back in Durham to speak with the current Blue Devils. Both spoke about what it meant to wear the Duke jersey, how to handle pressure on a national stage, and what it takes to stay locked in for a full season. And just this week, another familiar face showed up: Jared McCain.
McCain has a special connection to the program beyond his own time in a Duke uniform. His brother, Jayce McCain, now serves as a Player Development Specialist for Duke. So Jared’s visit was part family, part Brotherhood. But it was clear the trip meant more than just seeing his brother. McCain lit up talking about being back on campus:
“It’s amazing, man; I love it. It brings me back to 2023, freshman year. It’s awesome. I love coming back here; it brings the best memories.”
You could hear the nostalgia in his voice. From Cameron chants to late-night gym runs, McCain said returning to Duke always reminds him why the Brotherhood is different from anywhere else.

The episode features McCain prominently, along with current standouts John Blackwell and Caleb Foster. The trio gives viewers an inside look at offseason work, leadership conversations, and what the culture looks like heading into the new season.
For Duke, these visits aren’t just cameos. They’re reminders. When you put on that jersey, you’re part of something bigger — a lineage that keeps showing up, summer after summer.
