It was a thrilling match at Anfield as Liverpool and Newcastle United engaged in another Premier League thriller.
It wasn’t exactly 4-3, but there were moments in Liverpool’s 4-2 win at Anfield on Monday night, including some questionable play from Diogo Jota.
With the score at 3-2, Diogo Jota did a good job of beating the Newcastle United keeper but went down moments later after feeling contact.
Former Chelsea defender John Terry called the 27-year-old’s “amazing probing” on Twitter. On-field referee Anthony Taylor first called a penalty, so when VAR reviewed it, it was not changed because it was not “clear or obvious”.
This made matters worse, as it was clear to the crowd that a penalty kick should not have been awarded. If you thought John Terry was unhappy with Diogo Jota’s performance, he actually thought the VAR penalty call was worse.”
“How on earth is that a penalty?” asked Terry. “Shocking dive! The worst thing is VAR give it?”

Liverpool is in first place in the ranking.Jurgen Klopp wonders how and why his side have failed to beat under-performing Newcastle in the past.
The Reds had an impressive 34 shots on target during the game, 15 of them on target, and Mohamed Salah converted a second-half penalty after seeing his first save.
Despite Newcastle’s challenge, they battled and battled to the end. And had they not conceded a goal in the penalty shootout, anything could have happened given the drama of this game over the years. In the end, Liverpool extended their lead in the Premier League to three points.
