José Mourinho prediction already true about coach who could succeed Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool


In an intriguing turn of events, it has come to light that former football manager José Mourinho predicted Xabi Alonso’s potential as a top-class coach even before his impressive stint at Bayer Leverkusen. Mourinho, renowned for his success with clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid, and AS Roma, had the privilege of working with Alonso during his tenure at Real Madrid.

Fast forward to the present day, and Alonso has established himself as a capable manager, particularly during his time at Real Sociedad and now at Bayer Leverkusen. Alonso’s remarkable achievements in the Bundesliga, with Leverkusen currently sitting at the top of the table, have caught the attention of clubs worldwide.

Among them, the ECHO reports, are said to be Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich— three of Alonso’s former teams. This has sparked speculation about a potential managerial role for Alonso, especially considering that Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp still has three years remaining on his contract and has been linked with the Germany national team position.

While names like Roberto De Zerbi, the current Brighton & Hove Albion boss, have been mentioned as possible successors to Klopp, there is also growing support for Alonso to take over the reins at Liverpool. Interestingly, Mourinho himself has already expressed high praise for Alonso’s coaching abilities.

Speaking at a Top Eleven event in 2019, Mourinho highlighted Alonso’s strong foundation in the game due to his father’s influence as both a player and a manager. He also acknowledged Alonso’s extensive experience playing in Spain, England, and Germany under esteemed coaches such as Pep Guardiola, Mourinho himself, Carlo Ancelotti, and Rafa Benitez.

Taking all these factors into account, Mourinho confidently stated that Alonso possesses all the qualities necessary to become an exceptional coach. His deep understanding of the game, combined with his exposure to different footballing cultures and coaching styles, sets him apart as a potential future manager.
