Jose Mourinho predicts who will win the Premier League title this season

We have an exciting Premier League title race on our hands, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal right in the thick of it and Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa not too far behind.

 

Jurgen Klopp‘s Reds currently top the standings with 54 points, while Pep Guardiola‘s Citizens and Mikel Arteta‘s Gunners are just two points behind.

Further back, Ange Postecoglou‘s Spurs are fourth on 47 points, while Unai Emery‘s Villans are fifth with 46 points. And a lot can change in the space of a few matchdays.

Jose Mourinho has now given his prediction as to who’ll win the Premier League title. And for the legendary Portuguese manager, it’s a hard call between two teams.

 

Mourinho was interviewed by Rio Ferdinand and Stephen Howson on FIVE, the former asking the 61-year-old who he felt would win the English top-flight title.

He replied: “Premier League… City? Liverpool? So like that I’m not I’m not making a mistake. City, Liverpool, but I think City.”

Jose Mourinho goes for Manchester City ahead of Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Aston Villa

Let’s face it, City are the favourites for the Premier League title at present. They have won it five times in the last six years and their squad remains packed with quality and strength in depth.

They have what it takes to see off all kinds of opponents, and while they have stumbled on a few occasions this season, they’re going up the gears and boast great consistency now.

That said, Liverpool also know what it takes to win the title, having done so in 2020. The Reds are the only club that have broken Man City’s recent title-winning streak and they’re strong enough to do it again.

 

As for Arsenal, they are a strong team as well, but there’s a feeling that they’re not quite the finished product, with a lack of an out-and-out centre-forward a potential risk in terms of going all the way.

Tottenham could well go on to become title challengers in future, but although Postecoglou has worked miracles on Spurs compared to last season, they might need a couple more windows to really get the strength in depth spot on.

Villa did briefly challenge for the title, but like Tottenham, they’re not quite the finished product – or close enough to it – just yet. Nevertheless, they’ll certainly fancy their chances of a top four finish and next season’s Champions League .
