Newcastle United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are just a few of the clubs that have been linked with Kalvin Phillips in recent weeks.
Most of the recent speculation surrounding the Manchester City midfielder involves the Magpies, but there have also been links with the Reds, the Gunners and Spurs.
In addition, speculation has begun doing the rounds linking Phillips with the likes of West Ham United and Crystal Palace. Put simply, he’s a man in demand this month.
Phillips, one of the most highly-rated midfielders in the English game, is barely getting a look-in at the Etihad Stadium, and could well be available.
Now, Guardian journalist Ed Aarons has provided an update on the 27-year-old that will be of interest to the aforementioned clubs.
Phillips’ agents are in talks with Man City in hope of bringing down the loan fee wanted by the club for the player, the reporter wrote on X.
Aarons named Palace, Newcastle and West Ham as just some of the interested suitors, but none are willing to pay the £6million loan fee that City want for Phillips.

Newcastle, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham all linked with Kalvin Phillips in January transfer window
When a player of Phillips’ calibre becomes available, it’s no surprise that so many clubs have decided to enter the race.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham are all doing well in the Premier League this season. When clubs of that calibre are apparently eyeing a player, you know that he’s good.
However, the Reds, the Gunners and Spurs will probably not fancy their chances of signing Phillips as much as some of the other clubs. Why would City strengthen potential title rivals?
West Ham may also be too close to the upper echelons of the table for City’s liking, while Palace and Newcastle are currently in mid-table and may well fancy their chances a bit more.
Let’s see whether Phillips’ agents can persuade City to bring their loan fee down and help facilitate a move. With Euro 2024 on the horizon, it’s important that the player gets regular game time.
