Carragher, who announced his first choice, smiled and said: “It was the easiest choice for me. I’d go for England’s young superstar who has lit up the Champions League this season. There must be only one person for me. I choose… Declan Rice.
The studio burst into laughter, and Bellingham replied, “I’m loving the look of Team Mika more and more.”Richards rewarded the 20-year-old’s support by naming him in the team of the year, but that didn’t stop things between Carragher and Bellingham.
Carragher then made his choice, picking three of the two between Lionel Messi, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe. “Look at the three people in front.” he said “I mean, could you pick a better trio? There is Mbappe. Currently the best player in the world. Messi, there is a GOAT.”
However, Bellingham questioned the balance of the starting trio, saying, “I think there’s a lack of energy and too many walks.” Richards also added “no legs.” Then surgery: “Do you think there is enough energy?”
