Jurgen Klopp has told fans he is “out of steam” in an emotional video statement about his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
Jurgen Klopp has broken his silence following the news that he will step down as Liverpool manager at the end of this season. I love everything about this club, I love everything about this city, I love the team and the staff. But I’m still making that decision and showing that it’s the decision I have to make.
The German, who has been in charge at Anfield since 2015, left the post as one of the most successful managers in the club’s history, winning a Champions League title, a Premier League title and two domestic trophies. Klopp posted on the club’s social media: “I will have to leave the club at the end of the season. I understand that many people are shocked to hear this. It is the first time, but of course I can explain, or at least try to explain.
“I don’t have energy problems anymore. I’ve known for a while that I’d have to post about this at some point, but for now I’m doing great. I know I can’t keep doing this. And despite all the years we’ve had, all the time we’ve spent together, all the things we’ve been through, despite all the respect I have for you, the love I have for you, the smallest debts I owe you, it’s true, it’s true.
