Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City are in fierce competition for the Premier League title this season.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke about his side’s chances of winning the Premier League title after their 2-0 win over Burnley on Boxing Day.
Goals from Darwin Nunes and Diogo Jota saw the Reds take all three points at Turf Moor and move two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table. However, the Gunners face the Merseyside club at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow night against West Ham United.
Klopp was coy when asked about the title race and refused to give up on the current league standings. “It’s fantastic,” joked the German when asked about his side’s rise to the top half of the table. “I can barely hold my hand!””42 points. Okay, I’m glad I finished the first leg of the season.”What I did was absolutely right.
It’s not perfect, but it’s good.”Now that means if Arsenal win we won’t be more than a point above the top of the table and within striking distance.” Aston Villa drew with Liverpool on Tuesday but Unai Emery’s side finished three points behind their title rivals after losing 3-2 at Manchester United.
Villa went 2-0 up before Alejandro Garnacho’s brace turned things around, Rasmus Hoylund scoring the winner after 82 minutes.
Meanwhile, reigning champions Manchester City are currently in 5th place, although they still have two games to play.
