The Liverpool manager has revealed three players who have returned to the club after spending time on loan in Scotland.
Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on defensive trio Nat Phillips, Reece Williams and Owen Beck, who return to the club after their loan spell in Scotland.
Phillips spent the first half of the season with Celtic but made eight appearances and only three starts in the Scottish Premiership.
While on loan at Aberdeen, Williams failed to make a league appearance as he struggled to break into the team. Beck was called up after an impressive performance at left-back for Dundee United.
The 21-year-old returns to back up Andy Robertson and Tsimikas and will compete for minutes immediately as the club consider the futures of their two remaining defenders.
Fans will recall that the pair raised their status at the club in the 2020/21 season due to an injury crisis, but they haven’t had much joy since.
Ahead of the game against Arsenal, he gave us an update on centre-back duo Phillips and Williams and their futures. He also expressed surprise that his time in Scotland was not successful.
“With Nat we have to wait and see where we are. He will stay with us until the end of the month and we will see how he is. We have a lot of respect for both of them, especially for the work they do.
Celtic’s Nat has not been very effective as he has struggled with injuries. Then a team like Celtic is in a positive moment and you’re in the team, if not you’re out of the team.
It had nothing to do with quality. Nat will train with us and we will see how he progresses. “With Reece, he will be in the U23s and I will talk to him about his loan spell and why it didn’t happen.
The boy I know expects Scotland and Haven to give 100% from the first minute to the last. “I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I will and then we’ll see how this situation plays out,” he said.
Another returning figure is Beck, who returns to cover the injured duo of Robertson and Tsimikas. Klopp said he had not yet confirmed his FA Cup squad for the game but was impressed by his performance at Dundee United and was surprised the other away game was not a success.
