Jurgen Klopp has beaten Pep Guardiola more than any other manager but Liverpool boss struggles at Etihad

Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola meet once again this weekend as Manchester City host Liverpool in a huge Premier League clash.

The battle between two of the world’s best managers is always one to behold with their sides becoming rivals over the last few years.

Klopp and Guardiola have had many famous meetings.
They have come up against each other more often than any other opposing boss in their career, with the pair more than familiar after 28 meetings.

Guardiola is often referred to as one of the greatest ever coaches, so to beat him and his incredible Man City team is some feat.

But Klopp seems to be his kryptonite with the German winning more games against him than any other manager.

However, despite Klopp’s success against Guardiola, he has struggled when playing at the Etihad in the Premier League.

All but one of his wins have been at home or a neutral venue, with his only away victory coming during his first visit to the blue side of Manchester in 2015.

Liverpool won that game 4-1 but they haven’t travelled home with three points in eight years since.

The Reds have drawn five of the other 13 trips, losing the other eight.

Pep’s side ran out 4-1 winners, picking up a comprehensive win despite going 1-0 down to pile on the misery for Liverpool who were coming to the end of a poor season.

The last point the Reds collected at the Etihad came in 2022 after a 2-2 draw that saw Sadio Mane score the equaliser.

But despite the record, Klopp will be confident of ending his poor streak on the road this time around.

His Liverpool side are unbeaten in the league since September and are only one point behind their title rivals after 12 games.

A win would take them to the top of the table and make a huge statement to the league.

And if there was one manager that has a chance of finding a way to beat Guardiola at the Etihad, it’s Klopp.
