Jurgen Klopp praised Wataru Endo after he scored against Toulouse, bringing the Liverpool midfielder out of the blue.
Ryan Gravenbirch hit the headlines after the Reds’ 5-1 Europa League win on Thursday night. The Dutchman continued his promising start since joining from Bayern with a brilliant performance, including his fourth goal.
Klopp asked Gravenburch a question at the post-match press conference and then presented flowers to Endo. He told reporters, “I have enjoyed many individual performances, but I want to single out Wataru Endo.”“I’m not sure if people think it’s great, but that forward pass he did tonight was really cool.
“It was amazing how often he crossed the line with one touch.“Then he scores a beautiful goal that any player, even an experienced player, can use. It’s very cool.”If I had taken him out, I would have hugged Graven Birch, but I had to keep playing.” The 30-year-old is not considered a regular in midfield and has not made a Premier League start since the 2-1 win against Newcastle on 27 August. Instead, his starts have been limited to the Europa League and League Cup as part of Klopp’s second spell, which has left him with little rhythm with his new team.
Defensive midfielder Endo currently has a goal and an assist in nine games for Liverpool, the third most assists (eight) in FotMob against Toulouse.
