Jurgen Klopp knows how to turn Darwin Nunez into a Liverpool legend and Philippe Coutinho proved why

Liverpool fans know the history of Darwin Nunez on Merseyside has not been without success. He may have missed a big opportunity like Christian Benteke did at Anfield in 2015, but Nunez has shown significant signs of improvement this season.
One of Uruguay’s biggest areas for improvement is of course his ‘big chance’ conversion rate, and there is one former Liverpool player who could show promise.

Philippe Coutinho
Like Nunez, Coutinho was a huge presence at St James’ Park, but at the time Coutinho had yet to develop his trademark. Like the former Inter Milan midfielder, who was signed to Liverpool by former manager Rafael Benítez, there was clear potential in his game. He felt something was going to happen when he had the ball.

That’s the level of excitement for Nunez, but there are still games where fans wonder why he didn’t get on the score sheet. The Uruguayan has scored eight goals and provided eight assists in all competitions this season, including 11 in the Premier League. This was achieved over 1119 minutes of football in 19 games, with a goal or assist coming in 101 minutes.

Avoiding comparisons to Erling Haaland, Nunez created his own story. In a season where he has developed in a manner suited to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, his performances have shown he is getting closer to becoming the striker the Reds’ recruitment team expects him to be. And the plan for that already exists. At just 24, Nunez still has time to reach his peak and will need to develop the same level of composure as Diogo Jota before he can perform well in front of goal.

A chance was awarded to Martin Dubravka before a penalty was awarded. Just as Coutinho begins to find his stride with his trademark inside and long-range strikes, it won’t be long before Nunez begins to get the finishing touches he needs to add to his game to further tweak his much chance.

And Klopp has great people managing him. Commenting on Coutinho’s progress at Anfield in 2016, Klopp told the ECHO: “We’ve had a few conversations about it. Naturally, Phil’s skills make everyone want to give him the ball and wait for something special to happen. “Then you think, ‘Oh, never shoot again,’ but I’ll always try if I can shoot like he shoots.” “I would wake up in the morning and throw a ball around the yard.

“When we talked about it, we said he can help us more and we could help him more if we could make really simple passes and finish in different ways to create good situations.” It was very helpful. Development conditions.
