Jurgen Klopp has hinted that he rejects Gary Neville’s theory that it is too early for Liverpool 2.0 to win the Premier League title. Klopp’s Reds have 34 points from 15 games this season and are in second place ahead of Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace.

Former Manchester United captain Neville has made it clear on several occasions that he believes it is too soon for Liverpool to be champions again after a change during the summer transfer window.

Captain Jordan Henderson, stalwart James Milner and midfielder Fabinho left the club ahead of the new season, forcing Klopp to overhaul his squad with the likes of Dominic Szoboszlai and Alexis McAllister.

“They have spirit and fight, Klopp’s teams always have that spirit,” Marcel told a Sky Sports podcast. “I don’t think they will compete for the title. The midfield is better and faster than expected, but without the real players yet, I think there will be problems. “I’m in a really good place.

Klopp may not be challenging for the title this season, but he could be something very special in the next transfer window. “Liverpool continue to impress following the former captain’s comments in October that he believed Neville Klopp’s men were ahead of schedule.

Asked on Friday if he agreed with that idea, the Reds manager said: “I wanted to be a real team that had to build the foundations in pre-season and then overcome the challenges.

Gary Neville was impressed by Liverpool but never saw them win the title. “We won 1-0 with a red card. I don’t know where we would be without him. I’m happy with the progress so far.

“We had to replace the biggest leaders in world football.””I don’t think Liverpool are ready for a tough challenge,” Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said in October.

Of course Arsenal did last season. “We started well, but I don’t think we are playing as well as last season, so I don’t think everyone is 100%.
