Jurgen Klopp’s agent responds to claims ex-Liverpool manager has new job in football

Speculation that Jurgen Klopp might reconsider his break from football and join Red Bull as their new football boss has been quickly debunked by his agent, Marc Kosicke.

After nine seasons, nine trophies, and an emotional farewell at the end of the Premier League season, Klopp has yet to release specifics about his plans beyond Liverpool. Besides saying he would be taking a year off and never managing another Premier League team, football fans have been kept in the dark about what’s to come next for the legendary manager.

Reports have been circulating that Red Bull is eyeing Klopp to oversee its football operations, a role left unfilled since Oliver Mintzlaff stepped down years ago, per Salzburger Nachrichten. Red Bull reportedly hopes to lure Klopp to enhance its clubs’ appeal to top transfer prospects.

However, Kosicke has completely squashed all speculations of his client’s next move. Klopp’s agent told Sky Germany about an immediate move to Red Bull: “[It’s] Total nonsense. There’s nothing to it.”

Klopp has strong ties with Germany, where Red Bull’s most successful team, RB Leipzig, is based having managed Mainz 05 from 2001 to 2008 and Borussia Dortmund from 2008 to 2015. At Mainz, Klopp guided the team to their first-ever promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2003-04 season and helped the club qualify for the UEFA Cup in the 2005-06 season.

At Dortmund, Klopp solidified his reputation as an elite manager by winning two consecutive Bundesliga titles in 2010-11 and 2011-12. He secured a domestic double in the 2011-12 season by winning the DFB-Pokal and reached the UEFA Champions League final in the 2012-13 season, where his team lost to Bayern Munich. Klopp also won the DFL Supercup in both 2013 and 2014. His German honors include being named German Football Manager of the Year in 2011, 2012, and 2019.
