The three-time NBA champion and one of the greatest shooting guards in league history recently came to the defense of Bronny James, calling out the relentless media attention surrounding LeBron’s son. On his podcast, The Why with Dwyane Wade, Wade made it clear that the coverage of Bronny is unlike anything other young players have ever experienced.
“Every show has a segment about Bronny James… Ya’ll don’t cover guys… the way that ya’ll talk about Bronny James,”Wade said, questioning why the scrutiny has been so intense. Bronny, the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, has struggled in his rookie season with the Lakers,
Down in the G League, Bronny has been a completely different player. Suiting up for the South Bay Lakers, he’s averaging 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, proving that he’s capable of making an impact when given the right opportunity. That’s exactly the point Wade was trying to make. The media has focused almost exclusively on Bronny’s NBA struggles, rarely acknowledging his strong development in the G League.
