JUST IN: Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat: Ansley Almonor Reflects on His Kentucky Journey

As Ansley Almonor closes the chapter on his collegiate career, he’s reflecting on the incredible journey he’s had as a key member of Mark Pope’s first Kentucky Wildcats squad. The Big Blue Nation, known for its passionate support, has left an indelible mark on Almonor’s heart. “I love Big Blue Nation,” he gushes. “From the moment I committed and visited, the support they’ve shown me has been incredible.” Almonor’s experience with the Wildcats has been nothing short of remarkable, and he’s grateful for the opportunities he’s had to grow as a player and a person.

Almonor emphasizes that the team treats every player like family, regardless of their role. “It doesn’t matter who you are on the team,” he explains. “They don’t treat anybody like just another player. They treat everybody like family.” This sense of belonging has made Almonor’s time at Kentucky truly unforgettable. The way people have treated me here is unlike anywhere else I’ve been. It’s something special.” Almonor’s bond with Kentucky basketball is evident in his words: “Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.”
