_Kentucky Connection: Thiero, Ivusic, and Wagner Drive Arkansas’ Quest for NCAA Tournament Berth_
In a surprising twist, three former University of Kentucky Wildcats have found a new home in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and are now driving the Arkansas Razorbacks’ quest for an NCAA Tournament berth.
Makhi Mitchell and his brother Makhel Mitchell, along with transfers Ricky Council IV, and Jalen Graham, along with former Wildcats Davion Mintz, Jacob Toppin and Lance Ware were not the only Wildcats to leave Lexington. Former Wildcats, Olivier Rioux, Daimion Collins and CJ Fredrick are also playing elsewhere, however, it’s the trio of Abayomi “Yomi” Ivisic, Anthony Thiero, and Cade Wagner that are turning heads in Arkansas.
Thiero, a 6’6″ guard, has been a spark plug off the bench, providing a much-needed scoring punch. Ivusic, a 6’10” forward, has brought a level of physicality and rebounding prowess that has been invaluable to the Razorbacks. Meanwhile, Wagner, a 6’7″ forward, has shown flashes of brilliance, with his ability to stretch the defense with his three-point shooting.
“I’m proud of the way these guys have adapted and contributed to our team’s success,” said Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman. “Their Kentucky roots have definitely prepared them for the level of competition we’re facing.”
As the Razorbacks continue their push for an NCAA Tournament berth, the Kentucky connection is proving to be a valuable asset. With Thiero, Ivusic, and Wagner leading the charge, Arkansas is poised to make some noise in the tournament.
Will the Razorbacks’ Kentucky connection be enough to propel them to March Madness success? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – this trio is making a lasting impact in Fayetteville.
