Jurgen Klopp says the arrival of Darwin Nunes comes at a good time for Liverpool after his impressive performances in the opening weeks of the season.
Nunez had a difficult first season at Liverpool after joining the Reds from Benfica for an initial fee of £64m, scoring a healthy 15 goals in all competitions with some difficult moments around the goals.
However, the Uruguayan has started the new season in strong form, scoring or assisting on average every 62.5 minutes in all competitions.
No player in the Premier League has surpassed Nunez in terms of goals per 90 minutes this season and Klopp is delighted with the progress of the 24-year-old, who hopes to become a regular for Liverpool. “He is in a very good phase.
He has had time to adapt to a new country, a new language,” Klopp told a press conference ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Toulouse. “He is in the middle of the team, everyone is happy with him and I am happy with him.
He’s good at this game, that’s good. “I think he’s very happy. I see that on the pitch and in training and that’s very important.”
