Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager in 2015 as he replaced Brendan Rodgers. Since then, the German has won every major trophy at Anfield. This includes a famous Premier League title as Liverpool won it after 30 years.
Moreover, the 56-year-old has a Champions League title, and a Carabao Cup title to his name as well. All this was also done with little transfer fees and using unknown players like Andy Robertson. Klopp has built a team with little resources and his big signings are Darwin Nunez, Alisson and Van Dijk.
All these players have proved to be worth every penny for the huge transfer fees paid by Liverpool. However, as for Darwin Nunez, he has yet to prove his worth to the Liverpool supporters.
Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp received an apology from club owners John Henry is the principal owner of Liverpool and co-founder of FSG. Alongside him is Tom Werner who works as the club’s chairman.
While speaking to the press ahead of the round-of-16 Champions League game, Klopp revealed about the apology.
“At the beginning I received a message from the US saying, ‘Sorry for the squad we’ve given you’. But all was good I replied, it just needs time. There is a very strong tie to the owners, they support a lot. I just want to win football matches, to be honest.”
Klopp started his first game against Spurs in October 2015 with players who no longer are at Liverpool. His line-up comprised Simon Mignolet, Nathaniel Clyne, Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho, Alberto Moreno, Emre Can, Lucas Leiva, James Milner, Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi.
However, it did not take long for the German to make major changes in his squad. After a huge money move by Coutinho to Barcelona, the money was spent on top recruitments like Alisson and Van Dijk. This proved to be a huge success as the duo formed a major part of Klopp’s side to win several trophies. Thereafter, Van Dijk came second to Lionel Messi in the 2019 Ballon d’Or. He was deemed to be the best defender that season.
Moreover, last season as well, major players like Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, and Naby Keita left the club.
Hence, Klopp replaced the aged midfield with the young recruits. He brought in Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted to receiving an apology via text message from the club’s owners, FSG, during his early days in charge at Anfield.
