Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has explained how he will prepare for this weekend’s game against Liverpool.
The Premier League returns from the international break this weekend, with reigning champions City hosting the Reds.
A single point separates the two sides of the table. However, preparations for both clubs will be halted due to the current international fixture. Walker himself played the full 90 minutes for England in Monday’s 1-1 draw with North Macedonia.
Asked ahead of the game at Skopje’s Tose Proeski National Stadium how his side would prepare for Saturday’s game at the Etihad, Walked said it would be a possibility that he and his team-mates would rest before returning to training.
He said: “We come back from Macedonia on Tuesday morning but we have a good manager who will give us a few days off at the weekend.
“Sometimes it gets a little tiring, but I wouldn’t change my job for the world. Sports science helped me a lot. “I work in the gym to strengthen my muscles, but I’m still sharp.
“After the final against Brentford, Jurgen Klopp criticized the team’s decision to reschedule their away trip to Manchester City at 12.30pm. The Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium on November 25, when the former host the latter, was originally scheduled for 5.30pm.
However, after several incidents between fans of both clubs, safety advisors ruled out a late start.
Klopp: “Nobody can tell you now, but how can you play a game like that at 12.30 on a Saturday? To be honest, it’s impossible because the decision-makers don’t know football.”
