Kylian Mbappé and Neymar have both gone on record in the past to praise the German head coach. The fact even they recognize his enormous impact at Anfield and his transformative impact on the club simply underlines the stark reality the club is facing – he is going to be extremely hard to replace.

Back in May 2020, Mbappé was asked to comment on Klopp and had no issue with giving enormous credit to his achievements shortly after they won the Premier League title. “This season, Liverpool have been a machine in the Premier League,” Mbappe said, via The Mirrror. “They have made winning look easy but the truth is that it is never easy.

“Performances like they have been having don’t just happen. To be as ruthless as they have been would come from lots of hard work in training and from having a very good manager.”

A few months later, Brazilian superstar Neymar, teammates with Mbappé at Paris Saint-Germain at the time, had similarly high praise for Liverpool and what Klopp had managed to build.

“Over the last two seasons Liverpool have played some of the best football in Europe,” Neymar told the Daily Star. “Last season winning the Champions League and this season winning a league was strong, because they won the Premier League so comfortably. Their coach has built a strong team and next season I am sure they will be very competitive again.”

Since those comments, Liverpool has been through ups and downs, but Klopp has generally been able to keep Liverpool enormously competitive, just as Neymar and Mbappé anticipated he would. That’s testament to his management, which is clearly rated among the very best in the world not just by Reds fans, but by the biggest stars in the game.

At the end of the season, however, the unforgettable Klopp era will end as the German leaves the club. The reality is that finding someone capable of replicating what he has achieved will be an unenviable tough task for the club’s owners.

If anyone had any doubts about how impressive it is what Klopp has done, then the recognition he has received from Mbappé and Neymar, two of the best players in the world, simply underlines the fact Liverpool are losing a special manager.
