Lakers’ Luka Doncic makes basketball history never done in NBA

The Los Angeles Lakers’ star point guard was expected to lead the way for the franchise after improving his fitness during the offseason and building chemistry with his new and returning Lakers teammates.

Fortunately, the former Dallas Mavericks star has done just that, contributing 34.6 points, 9.0 assists, and 8.5 rebounds per game on a Lakers club on an upward trajectory (12-4 record).

During Doncic’s latest outing against the Utah Jazz, the five-time All-Star made basketball history that’s never been done before in the big league. “Luka Doncic in 12 games played this season: 414 points and 107 assists,” the NBA’s official X/Twitter account stated after the Lakers’ narrow 108-106 win.

“He’s the FIRST PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY to have 400+ points and 100+ assists through 12 games.”

Doncic’s historic feat makes the Mavericks look even sillier for giving up on the 6-foot-6 offensive wizard in February.

Doncic is a one-of-a-kind type of point guard, as the 2018 No. 3 overall pick routinely manages to have his way on the offensive end despite not boasting elite burst/acceleration. While it’s early, it wouldn’t be asinine to suggest that Doncic is making a compelling MVP case with the Lakers.

More importantly, Doncic is ensuring the Lakers remain on the right track in the Western Conference.
