LFC is proudly gearing up to support the Poppy Appeal from 2023.

 

Liverpool FC will support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal 2023 with a poppy-themed shirt to mark Remembrance Day next month.

The Red Women will wear Poppy shirts when they take on Leicester City at Prenton Park on Sunday, November 5.

The men’s team will wear the Poppy shirts next weekend against Brentford at Anfield on Sunday 12th November.All players will sign a Poppy shirt at home, which they wear to commemorate the service and sacrifice of British and Commonwealth troops, and donate it to the Royal British Legion, which will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal in 2023.

“As a team we proudly wear our poppy shirts to show our support and thank our Armed Forces and their families for the sacrifice they make for us all,” said men’s team captain Virgil van Dijk.

The Royal British Legion relies solely on public support to provide year-round, lifelong support to ex-servicemen and their families.

Last year the Reds commemorative shirts raised around £49,000 for the Royal British Legion and over the past 10 years LFC have raised over £382,000 through donated poppy shirts.

Women’s captain Niamh Fahey said: “It’s an honor to wear a poppy on my shirt to support and remember those who care so much to protect our freedom and way of life.”There will be a minute’s silence before kick-off for both matches and further support for the Poppy Appeal will be shown through LFC’s match day programme, with perimeter LED panels and LFC Premier League Poppy pins available to purchase from the LFC Online Shop. .100% of proceeds from badge sales go directly to the Royal British Legion.

The club is also proud to welcome ex-service members and representatives of the Royal British Legion, as well as veterans from the LFC Foundation Veterans Programme, to Anfield to watch the match against Brentford on 12 November.
