Liverpool ‘among clubs interested in Ligue 1 left-back’

Liverpool are reportedly among three Premier League clubs interested in signing Brest left-back Bradley Locko.

The 22-year-old completed a move to Brest from Reims for a reported €500,000 (£429,965) last summer after he spent the second half of last season on loan at the Stade Francis-Le Ble.

Locko has proven to be a regular fixture in a Brest side that has made an unexpected push for Champions League qualification this season.

The full-back has started each of Brest’s 32 league matches, helping his side collect 57 points to leave them in third spot with two games left to play.

Having enjoyed success at club level, Locko is set to feature in Thierry Henry’s France squad for this summer’s home Olympics.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are considering a summer bid for Locko after being left impressed by his performances this term.

The Reds are widely expected to begin a new era under Arne Slot, and have seemingly identified Locko as someone who has potential and could grow into a top-quality full-back at Anfield.

Liverpool can currently call upon Andrew Robertson as their first-choice left-back, while Kostas Tsimikas has proven to be a more-than-capable deputy.

However, the Reds still appear to be keen to add further strength-in-depth, especially as Robertson has been hampered by injury this season.

While the player’s valuation has not been disclosed, Brest could hold out for a significant fee, with the defender under contract until the summer of 2028.

Liverpool are set to be rivalled for Locko’s signature by fellow Premier League clubs Aston Villa and West Ham United.

Aston Villa’s current left-back options include Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno, but they are looking to bring in reinforcements as they try to build a squad capable of competing in the Champions League, with Unai Emery’s side on the brink of qualifying for UEFA’s premier club competition.

Meanwhile, West Ham may need to bring in a new left-sided defender, with Aaron Cresswell out of contract at the end of the season.

Like Liverpool, the Hammers are also preparing for a new era after it was confirmed that David Moyes will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
