There is just one point separating the top three but with at least one of those sides droppings points, Liverpool must be primed to capitalize. The reverse fixture at the Amex Stadium ended 2-2 and Liverpool does not have the best recent record against Sunday’s opponents.

In fact, Jürgen Klopp’s side has won just one of the eight meetings between the sides in all competitions. Brighton has avoided defeat in each of its last three visits to Anfield.

The clash will also see the Reds come up against a potential next manager candidate in Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian has been linked with Liverpool, as well as a number of other clubs in recent months, with The Guardian reporting he has been identified as an alternative to top target Xabi Alonso.

Both sides go into the match with injury worries though and although Liverpool’s situation is improving considerably, Klopp is still likely to be without a number of key players for Sunday’s clash. Here is the latest injury news from both camps.

Liverpool could have Curtis Jones back from injury, with Klopp confirming before the international break that the midfielder was close to returning. Elsewhere, Darwin Núñez is expected to be fit after picking up a knock at Old Trafford, while Diogo Jota is also not too far away.

Klopp is still without longer-term absentees Joël Matip, Thiago Alcântara and Ben Doak. But Stefan Bajčetić is edging closer to being back in training after a stop-start campaign.

Brighton injury latest

Roberto De Zerbi has injury concerns of his own with a number of key players missing the rest of the season. Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma is among them and remains sidelined with a back problem. Youngster Jack Hinshelwood is also unlikely to feature again this term while Solly March has not played since October due to a serious knee problem.

Brighton has also been without top scorer João Pedro since the start of February. He has scored 19 times this season and Sussex World reports he has an outside chance of being involved at Anfield, as does defender Adam Webster.

De Zerbi could have two former Liverpool players available though in James Milner and Adam Lallana. Milner has not played since the loss to Luton but is not too far away.

It will be a tough test on Sunday but one Liverpool cannot afford to slip up in. Brighton does have a decent record at Anfield and will arrive with no fear but losing Mitoma is a huge blow. De Zerbi will hope to be able to call upon top scorer João Pedro though as he looks to spring an upset.
