The Reds spent big on rebuilding their midfield last summer, spending £145.2m on Alexis McAllister, Dominic Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Waturu Endo. While the front three are quickly being recognized as first choice under Jurgen Klopp, Japanese star Endo appears to be more than just a player and a short-term player for Liverpool.

To that end, the Merseysiders are actively working to strengthen their midfield, with Klopp fast-tracking the signing of Fluminense midfielder Andre in January. The 22-year-old was the subject of interest from Manchester United last summer, but the Brazilian side were quick to snub their interest. In fact, they didn’t want to sell Andre when he was playing for the Copa Libertadores.

Last Saturday, the Brazilian national team became champions of South America after beating Boca Juniors 2-1. But their chairman has now admitted his club are willing to sell the midfielder and are waiting for what he described as a “stratospheric offer” to lure them into the deal when the January transfer window opens.”We are waiting.

There are no concrete offers for Andre today,” Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt told Globo Esporte. “But we are sure that after the Club World Cup, like the World Cup, there will be huge offers. “This could be the biggest sale in the club’s history. We could lose them both [Andre and Nottingham Forest target Nino], but we are working hard to replace them.”Napoli are in the running to sign Andre

Unfortunately for Liverpool, they seem to have quickly disappeared from Andre’s transfer picture. On Tuesday afternoon, reports emerged that Fulham had swooped in and offered plans to sign him in a £26m (€30m) deal.

The Cottagers are looking for a new defensive midfielder and expect Bayern Munich to step up their bid to sign Joao Palhinha this summer after the deadline to sign the Portuguese star looms. Marco Silva and Co therefore see Andre as a ready-made replacement for the former Sporting Lisbon Tiger.

However, both Premier League sides could win after it was revealed that Napoli are also interested in a potential deal. They will reportedly spend €35m (£30m) to beat the Reds and Fulham to sign the former Brazilian midfielder.

According to Italian journalist Giovanni Scotto, Napoli are very active in their pursuit of Andre, although there appears to be some confusion over a potential transfer fee. “Napoli will be active in the January transfer window with the signing of Brazilian midfielder Andre from Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense.”Born in 2001, he is worth around €15 million and is a midfielder who can be both a playmaker and a playmaker. “It can be a good source of energy,” he said.

But rival reports suggest Napoli are prepared to spend €35m on Andre, with Fluminense ready to pay a club-record transfer fee in the process. Fabrizio Romano has revealed Liverpool’s transfer interest.

This comes after Fabrizio Romano revealed on his Transfer Report podcast that Liverpool have dropped out of the race for André.”He will remain in the Liverpool team,” the transfer expert confirmed. “But it seems other clubs are involved.”But from what I’ve heard, it’s not just Liverpool’s problem.

Several clubs in Europe are trying to agree the terms of the deal and Fluminense are ready to make a takeover in January.“I think the situation may become clearer in the coming weeks as discussions may take place to understand the final price and the intentions of the players. But Liverpool are still interested. Let’s see what they spend the money on.

Because I think it will be between 35 and 40 million euros. “But the people of Liverpool think very highly of him.”Andre himself admits he has been approached by Liverpool in the build-up to the Copa libatedores final, but remains open about his future.

He said: “We haven’t spoken about it recently and it’s the first time we’ve spoken in depth. It was an offer the major league club couldn’t refuse.”I think every player dreams of playing for a big club in Europe, in a big league.

But when the transfer window closed in January, [Fluminense manager Fernando] Diniz came and said he wanted me here before the end of the year, so I decided to keep my promise.“I had no idea we would get an offer for that amount of money and I told him we would be there until the end of the season no matter what.

“It was the middle of the year and we reached the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. “It was a very difficult decision.”Andre Trindade talks about his upcoming transfers.

“I don’t know what will happen at the end of the year. A lot of things can happen,” Andre said of his future transfers. “I’m sure coming here and knowing it works has helped me a lot as a person and in my career.
