Liverpool and West Ham United have a ‘pending’ deal for Napoli star Piotr Zielinski as the deal enters the final six months of the January transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Premier League duo could compete with Juventus for the Polish midfielder’s signature. The paper discusses the various options Juventus are exploring until January to replace Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fazili, who are suspended for failed drug tests and football gambling respectively.
They are looking at a variety of options in Europe, including possible options in Italy, and Zielinski could be one of them. His contract with Napoli expires next summer and he is yet to extend his contract with the Italian champions.
Therefore, from January 1 he can negotiate a pre-contract with the club if he wants. It also means Napoli would be willing to sell him cheaply for a fee rather than let him go for free in the summer.
Juventus could be one of them but face competition for a potential “nice free transfer”, with the Corriere saying Inter Milan, Liverpool and West Ham are “on board”.
It is not known if the player has been contacted, only that he is part of the squad lined up. This comes as no surprise to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp has been in constant contact with the player since joining the club and even made a bid for a claim this week.
West Ham have shown interest in several reports at the end of 2022 and earlier this year, but to a lesser extent than Anfield. It still is. This could be something to watch as January approaches and Zielinski’s deal winds down.
