Liverpool are facing a €75m deal that could prevent Kylian Mbappe from joining

Liverpool are facing a €75m contract that could prevent PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe from joining the club. In recent seasons, Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes. However, the Frenchman made a last-minute U-turn to turn down a move to Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid in 2022 and ended up signing a new contract with PSG. Last week, it was reported that Liverpool were PSG’s most credible and risky suitors regarding Mbappé’s future.

However, Liverpool are currently facing a €75m contract that could ultimately prevent Mbappe from joining the club. According to The Athletic, Mbappe’s basic salary at PSG is 75 million euros, excluding bonuses. Such wages would crush Liverpool’s wage structure, with Mohamed Salah the highest paid player on £350,000 a week. Liverpool cannot afford Mbappe’s massive wages, so it is highly unlikely that the Frenchman will move to Anfield unless he accepts the terms that Liverpool can offer.

Asked about signing Mbappé in July, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: “We laughed about it. You can say he’s a very good player, but the financial situation doesn’t suit us at all. “I don’t want to spoil the story now, but as far as I know, nothing is happening.”Klopp added: “Someone else at the club wants to surprise me, but that hasn’t happened in the eight years I’ve been here.” It must be the first time.

It was widely reported that a deal to bring Mbappe to Madrid was completed on Sunday night, with the Frenchman set to sign on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.
