Liverpool are interested in RB Leipzig striker Reus Openda, who played in Tuesday night’s game against Manchester City.
Lois Openda joined RB Leipzig this summer but is already attracting attention from Liverpool. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri told Openda that the Premier League is “already in full swing”.
RB Leipzig face Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night and it looks set to be an open show. Openda scored twice in the first half, weaving his way through the City defense to score two stunning goals.
City came back to win 3-2 after the break, but Openda turned heads with a double. Liverpool are now interested in Reus Openda.Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri said Premier League clubs have already taken note of Openda.
Tavolieri cited Liverpool’s interest just months after Openda joined RB Leipzig from Lens. The Bundesliga club paid around €45 million to sign Openda and can now demand more.
Openda scored 13 goals and provided 3 assists in 17 games for RB Leipzig. Openda, described as “very quick” by Rangers manager Philippe Clement during his time at Club Brugge, could be the solution if Liverpool want another striker.
Liverpool have a long history with Red Bull players. Some wonder if Liverpool really need another right-footed striker. Jurgen Klopp already has Darwin Nunes, Diogo Lotta, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz at his disposal.
Either way, Liverpool will need a left-footed replacement for Mohamed Salah in 2024.However, Liverpool have recruited players who have been to Red Bull several times, including Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig.
Sadio Mane, Ibrahim Konate, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Dominique Szoboszlai have joined Liverpool after previously playing for the Red Bull club.
Openda could be Liverpool’s next man and you can’t blame Klopp and his team-mates for respecting him after his performance against City.
