One of Liverpool’s priorities over the next six months will be signing a new centre-back.
Jurgen Klopp currently has plenty of room to strengthen his depth in this department. An important aspect of Liverpool’s recruitment will be securing a player who can revitalize Klopp’s chances.
He currently has experienced veterans in his squad including Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip. But Klopp has now launched his own version of Liverpool 2.0 and that will require looking to the future.
A new face is needed to succeed Van Dijk. A prime candidate for the role could be Lille defender Leny Yoro.
According to French newspaper Le10Sport, Liverpool have identified him as a possible player to sign, which would not be surprising given his numbers.

Yoro boast the best defensive tackles in Europe’s top five leagues this season, according to statistical database Wyscout.
Yoro is currently winning 83.82% of his defensive faceoffs (4.24 per 90). However, what is more surprising is that it ranks first not only in defensive battles, but also in aerial duels.
Yoro has an 80% tackle success rate at 2.49 per 90 minutes this season. This figure comes just behind Liverpool’s Van Dijk (78.9%).
Klopp has always employed centre-backs who win most of his games, especially in the air. He is an important figure for the club’s recruitment team, so it is no surprise that Yoro is on Liverpool’s radar.
It won’t be easy for Liverpool as he is only 18 and there are many other clubs trying to sign him. However, if the Reds can reach a deal, it would certainly be a major coup.
