Jurgen Klopp has announced that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season and talkSPORT are reporting that more high-profile players could follow.
Klopp’s announcement came as a surprise to many, but the problems are only just beginning for the club’s owners as Van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract in 2025 and could all be out. Sign the extension.
There’s no denying that Jurgen Klopp has been influential in keeping most of his players in the starting line-up so far. But with his departure, the new manager brought with him a new perspective.
It is still unclear who will be Liverpool’s next manager, but without an influential name, there is little chance of stars like Van Dijk or Mo Salah staying at Anfield. Salah has received an offer from the Saudi Arabian Pro League and now that Klopp has left, the club’s owners will be able to sign the Egyptian this summer.
Trent has struggled in a traditional right-back role, but Klopp has been kind enough to use him in midfield in the Premier League this season. But it is doubtful whether the new leader will adapt in this way.
Virgil Van Dijk will turn 34 in July 2025, so his future will also be uncertain. To be honest, the Dutch defender hasn’t been the same since he suffered a serious injury a few years ago. Salah and Van Dijk are set to leave Liverpool in a year, but with TAA still only 25 years old, the hosts will insist on signing a new contract.
When a new manager joins a club, he brings his own plans and players, which usually leads to the sale of old fighters.
The Liverpool board will be looking to bring in someone to continue Jurgen Klopp’s legacy at the club, but to be honest, these three, as well as several other players, are expected to leave the dressing room with the German.
