Hi, what are you looking for?

Liverpool

Liverpool could sign one of Europe’s ‘hottest prospects’ after reports emerged that Manchester United have pulled out of the competition.

The Reds have had a busy summer transfer window, with Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all leaving. As a result, Jurgen Klopp added five midfielders including Alexis McAllister, Dominic Szoboslai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenburch.

However, it looks like the next signing will be in a completely different position, the Reds are looking to sign Sporting Lisbon centre-back Goncalo Inacio.

Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano confirmed Liverpool’s interest earlier this month, telling CaughtOffside that the 22-year-old is on the shortlists of Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United.

However, in a bid to boost Klopp’s transfer hopes, Premier League rivals United have been forced to drop out of the race to sign him due to a lack of funds, according to Football Insider. French outlet Le Parisien claimed this could pave the way for Liverpool, who led the race to sign Inacio last.

The Portuguese defender has now extended his contract with Sporting until 2027. Liverpool are believed to be willing to pay £42.9m to strengthen their backline. With his left foot, Inacio provides useful cover for Virgil van Dijk, who mainly operates on the Left.
