While they said that ‘no damage’ was done, they shared a picture of the nail and hinted at the harm that could have been done.
A 15-year-old City fan had her head wound glued by paramedics and was ‘scarred for life’ in last season’s Carabao Cup clash after a Liverpool supporter threw a beer pot weighted by coins. The two clubs condemned the act and Liverpool’s chief executive Billy Hogan personally apologised to the girl’s family but now it appears more trouble is occurring.
Posting a photo of the nail on X, a fan wrote: ‘Nice one Man City fans. Not heavy at all and no damage done, but what could have been to say a young girl’s eye?
Not heavy at all and no damage done, but what could have been to say a young girls eye? It’s no drama in this if you want to kick off about it, but it did happen.
Last season, in City’s 3-2 win over Liverpool, a horrific image emerged of the child’s bloodstained scarf to show the sort of damage that can be done from launching missiles.
The rivalry between the two clubs is becoming more toxic after their years of tussling it out at the top of the Premier League table. A 53-year-old man, believed to be a City fan, was also taken to hospital after being assaulted after the December Carabao Cup clash last year.
Disabled Liverpool supporters were also subjected to racial abuse during that match, with GMP confirming that a man had been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
Greater Manchester Police reviewed CCTV and investigated the incidents after such behaviour.
A Liverpool fan has claimed that a Manchester City supporter threw a metal nail into the away end of the Etihad Stadium during their Premier League clash.
Anyone else seen nails been thrown from City end lower, or just this one?
