The Reds had a busy summer transfer window, with several outgoings including James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
However, one player fans may have forgotten about is Japan international Takumi Minamino, who departed Anfield for around $18m (£15m/€17m) back in June 2022. The 28-year-old initially moved to Liverpool in 2019, but struggled to establish himself as a regular first-team player under Klopp.
However, he has since rediscovered his very best form in France for Monaco.
The winger has five goals and four assists to his name in 13 Ligue 1 appearances, levelling his entire Premier League return at Liverpool. Monaco sit third in the table, six points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, but manager Adi Hutter will hope Minamino’s prolific form can help rival Le Parisiens for the title.
Fortunately, Liverpool are managing well without him, and sit second in the Premier League table, two points behind Arsenal.
Speaking to TNT Sports about his time at Liverpool, Minamino said: “It was a great experience for me. “We won the Premier League and two cups — the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. This for me was a very important experience as a football player, this is the most impressive memory.
“Anfield is one of the best stadiums in the world, this atmosphere and if you score as a Liverpool player it is amazing. I never forget that feeling.”
