Jayden Danns scored twice as Liverpool U-18s beat Newcastle United.
Jayden Danns returned from injury and continued his goalscoring run as Liverpool Under-18s beat Newcastle United 5-1.
The forward was denied a first-half brace as the Reds took on the Magpies at the AXA Training Centre.
American youth internationals Kierol Figueroa, Kieran Morrison and Ben Truman were also on target for Mark Bridge-Wilkinson’s side in the Premier League Cup. Danns has nine goals and two assists in eight games for the under-18s this season.
He played every match at his level. The 17-year-old targets 2022. -23, scored 10 goals in 21 games. Dans has been a member of Liverpool since he was eight years old.
This season he made a cameo appearance for the Under-21s in a 3-0 win over Morecambe in the EFL Trophy. The next challenge for him will be more frequent lineup appearances in Barry Lewtas.
Under-18 team-mates Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo signed from Leicester City and West Ham last summer, both featuring frequently for the under-21s. Nyoni was also in the first team for the 3-0 win against Brentford in the Premier League and trained with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Commenting on Dans’ form last month, Under-18 boss Bridge-Wilkinson told the club’s website: “Dansy is scoring a few goals at the moment, that’s for sure. We have to continue to work with him on the positions he’s going to get and we have to continue to create opportunities for him to get to those positions and make sure he gets the opportunities he deserves.
“It’s been a good start to the season for him, but there’s still a lot of potential that we can continue to work on.”
