Liverpool has big Man City chance in next five games as Steven Gerrard forced to apologize

Jürgen Klopp and his side will no doubt be on cloud nine after their late comeback victory over Fulham on Sunday. There’s not time for Liverpool to celebrate it though as the festive period kicks into gear.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was once again the hero at Anfield as the Reds fought back from 3-2 down to win 4-3 in the final few minutes of normal time. With the situation tight at the top of the Premier League table, it was, in the end, the perfect outcome to keep them in touching distance at the top.

The games come thick and fast now though, with Liverpool back in action tomorrow night as it travels to Sheffield United, who could have a new manager in charge. At the time of writing, Paul Heckingbottom is expected to be sacked, with Chris Wilder touted for a return.

Whoever is in charge of the Blades though, the Reds will be expected to pick up another three points, and Klopp will no doubt hope it will be in a much more comfortable fashion. Here are the latest Liverpool.com stories that you can’t afford to miss.

Steven Gerrard apologizes after another Saudi defeat
Things aren’t going too well for Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard out in Saudi Arabia. Liverpool’s last two captains have faced plenty of criticism for their decisions to make the move to the Middle East, and it isn’t working out for them on the pitch at the moment.

As well as attracting paltry crowds, Al-Ettifaq has recorded just one win in its last nine games after making a promising start to the season. The latest defeat, a 1-0 reverse against Al-Akhdoud, who were in the relegation zone prior to the match, has left Gerrard’s side a staggering 18 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal.

The performance led Gerrard to issue an apology to the club’s fans, telling them: “The performance was not what we intended.”
