Check out the latest injury updates and squad news as Liverpool prepare to face Fulham in the Premier League.
Liverpool face Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday as they look to extend their unbeaten run which ended with a controversial defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of September, but they will face the Cottagers without at least one key player.
Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson is certain to miss the game, with Jurgen Klopp giving a negative update on his condition ahead of the Europa League win against LASK, and he won’t be the only player to miss the game at Anfield.
And the visitors will be looking to build on last weekend’s decisive 3-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. We’ve rounded up all the latest squad news and injury updates below, as well as picking a possible starting XI for the game that will see Liverpool top the table when results elsewhere are in their favour.
Goalkeeper and Defense
Alisson, one of the best goalkeepers this season, will be out on Sunday. He could miss at least the next three Premier League games with a thigh injury, with Klopp saying he will be “a bit better” after next weekend. During that time, he will also miss the games against Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.
Caoimhin Kelleher will take his place between the sticks until Alisson recovers. The only defender out is Andrew Robertson.
The Scotland defender is unlikely to be out until the end of January as he recovers from a serious shoulder injury. According to Klopp’s selection decision for Thursday’s Europa League clash, he could start with the same starting line-up as against City last weekend.
Midfielders
There were no fresh updates on long-serving Liverpool midfielders veteran Thiago Alcantara and rising star Stefan Bajcetic out with hip and calf injuries respectively.
Thiago is expected to return to training for his final appearance for the club in the new year, but a date has yet to be set for the return of 19-year-old Bajcetic, who underwent surgery in March. Neither has been withdrawn and has yet to resume training.
Forwards
Liverpool will also have to do without the services of Portugal winger Diogo Jotta, as well as Alisson, in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at the Etihad.
Klopp said Jota “will live a bit longer [than Alisson]. We don’t know exactly how long, but that’s a little more important.” This will surely rule the striker out for the next few games. Fortunately, the rest of Klopp’s squad is healthy.
Darwin Nunez and young prospect Ben Doak are both healthy and have missed games in recent weeks. On the other hand, none of the players were selected against LASK and all of them can scored.
Expected full lineup vs. Fulham
Kelleher; Tsimikas, van Dijk, Matip, Alexander-Arnold; Jones, Mac Allister, Schbosley; Diaz, Nunez, Salah.
