Diogo Jota underlined against Chelsea on Wednesday why he is such a unique member of Liverpool’s attack.
Anyone wanting to watch the quintessential Diogo Jota goal need look no further than Liverpool’s opener against Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
There seemed no obvious route to goal when, having received a pass from Conor Bradley, the Reds forward was faced with the physical might of visiting centre-backs Thiago Silva and Benoit Badiashile.
Jota, though, did as Jota does. He simply put his head down and ran at the duo, fortune favouring the bravery of his choice by bouncing and bobbling into his path as he barged his way through the attempted challenges before tucking home confidently into the bottom corner beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
“I wanted it back off him, but I then saw him run through about three people and put it in the corner so I was happy enough!” laughs Bradley. “He has done brilliant for the goal. He is unbelievable. He is so clinical in front of the net it’s actually quite scary, to be honest. He just buries everything. He is a brilliant player.”
