Liverpool injury latest and possible return dates including Conor Bradley and Thiago

Latest Liverpool injury news and updates after Conor Bradley went off against Crystal Palace. Thiago is still missing but Stefan Bajčetić has made a comeback.

In all likelihood, Liverpool only has another seven matches remaining before the end of the season. Short of a European miracle in Bergamo — possible, but unlikely — Jürgen Klopp’s side will exit the Europa League on Thursday.

Having gone 3-0 down in the first leg at Anfield last week, Liverpool needs to win by three clear goals even to force extra-time. And Atalanta showed on Merseyside that it is likely to score at some stage in the 90 minutes.

Liverpool does have a number of players back available again after injury but few are in the kind of rhythm Klopp would ideally like. Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai don’t yet look back to their peak sharpness after coming back, while Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones would likely have scored the chances they had against Crystal Palace with a bit more game time under their belts.

While the injury list is a lot shorter than it has been for a while, then, it is not all good news for Liverpool. Those who are out now are unlikely to be seen much before the end of the season, if at all, but the worry is more about those who are fit but are currently misfiring. Liverpool.com has rounded up the latest.

Stefan Bajčetić and Conor Bradley

Liverpool has barely been able to pick Stefan Bajčetić all season because of a long-term problem for the young Spaniard. But he made his comeback on Friday night as Liverpool U21s beat Manchester United U21s by three goals to nil at Old Trafford.

Conor Bradley, meanwhile, went off against Crystal Palace just a few minutes into the second half. The right-back picked up a painful injury but it is too early to know how long he will be missing for. Klopp will offer an update during Wednesday’s press conference.

Possible return date: Bajčetić could play again at senior level this season. More likely, though, Liverpool will see the best of him again after a full summer pre-season, by which time the Reds (and their new manager) will have a new midfield option.

Joël Matip, Thiago Alcântara and Ben Doak

Liverpool is unlikely to see any of Joël Matip, Thiago Alcântara and Ben Doak again before the season concludes. Matip and Thiago are both out of contract and are currently sidelined with no exact timeline having been placed on their recovery.

Doak, meanwhile, underwent surgery on a knee injury earlier in 2024 and he is working his way back. Like Bajčetić, the summer’s pre-season under a new manager would appear to be the most sensible target for a return. Even if he was fit, Doak would be unlikely to be involved much in the run-in anyway now Salah and others are back.

Possible return dates: All three players are likely to miss the rest of the season. Thiago and Matip may well have played their final matches for the club.
