According to reports, Liverpool have sent club officials to observe the Premier League winger on several occasions this season and they will no doubt be impressed with what they have seen.
Egypt’s best player has put in some incredible performances throughout his time at Anfield.
He scored 202 goals and 87 assists in 331 games, helping Liverpool win major trophies including the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.
Salah is currently 10th on the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring list with 151 goals. He is ahead of former stars like Michael Owen, Leo Ferdinand, Robin van Persie and Dwight Yorke.
Salah ranks fifth among Liverpool’s top scorers, ahead of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler and Kenny Dalglish.
Unfortunately, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may soon have to do without his 31-year-old talisman. This is because Saudi Arabia’s professional league leaders have earmarked him as their top transfer target in a bid to further strengthen the rival team’s global appeal.
Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad offered Salah £150m last summer, but the offer was promptly rejected. He is expected to return with a new offer next summer, and that could be attractive to Liverpool given Salah’s contract expires in June 2025.
As such, Liverpool fans soon got to witness the new winger selected on the right flank. And Salah’s boots will certainly be filled.
West Ham United star Jared Bowen is widely seen as Salah’s successor, but he is not Liverpool’s only striker. Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the Crystal Palace star.
Reds are keeping a close eye on Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, according to a recent report from Football Insider. They even sent their “best scouts” to this campaign several times.
Olise missed Palace’s first 11 games while recovering from a hamstring injury, but scored five goals and provided an assist in the next nine games.
The 22-year-old scored against Luton Town, Manchester City and Chelsea before he starred in Saturday’s win over Brentford. After Keane Lewis-Potter scored an early goal against Brentford, Olise equalized for the Eagles in the 14th minute when he met Jordan Ayew’s cross perfectly and fired home a first-time volley from a tight angle.
After Ebere Eze gave Palace the lead just before the break, Olise secured a second-half brace to ensure the team took all three points. He danced into the penalty area and caught keeper Mark Flecken with a low left-footed shot.
Brentford then had good chances but Roy Hodgson’s side got their first win since 4 November. Liverpool officials at Selhurst Park will be delighted to watch Olise use his trickery and playing intelligence to cause a variety of problems for Brentford’s defenders.
The former France U21 international is not as quick or explosive as Salah, but has the left foot to score from multiple positions. He also likes to pass, meaning he is adept at setting up potential Liverpool team-mates such as Darwin Núñez, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.
