Liverpool legend believes Reds player had one of his worst games for the club vs Everton
Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes one Reds player had one of their worst games for the club despite his side’s 2-0 win over Everton.

Mohamed Salah scored twice to seal the victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side, although it wasn’t a completely straightforward exercise for the hosts.

Liverpool had just one shot on target in the first half as they struggled to break the Toffees down, and Ibrahima Konate was perhaps fortunate to avoid a second yellow card for pulling down Beto with the scores at 0-0.

But after Michael Keane’s handball in the area, Salah dispatched his spot kick, and then put some gloss on the scoreline late on when a late counter resulted in him sliding the ball beyond Jordan Pickford from close range.

Liverpool briefly went to the summit of the Premier League table with the win, before Manchester City took top spot by beating Brighton later on Saturday.

But despite the win for the Reds, Aldridge was critical of several Liverpool players in his post-match column for Sunday World, and believed one player in particular had his worst game for the club.

Kostas Tsimikas was replacing Andy Robertson at left-back after the Scottish international was injured on international duty, but Aldridge thinks he has to step it up in future matches.

He explained: “The three points are all that matter in a derby game and Liverpool remains a red city, as I’m pretty sure it will be for a long time to come!

“Yet Klopp won’t need me to tell him that Liverpool need to play a lot better than this if they are to maintain a title challenge this season.

“Salah turned in his worst performance of the season so far yesterday, but still came up with the match-winning moments when the chances came his way. Alexis Mac Allister looked off the pace.

“Kostas Tsimikas had one of his worst games in a Liverpool jersey and had to be taken off. In the end, the match officials helped Liverpool over the line in this game and that’s not the way you want to win any football match.”
