Liverpool legend Sadio Mane has reportedly agreed a takeover of a French fourth-tier side.

According to La Journal Du Centre, the forward is set to buy Championnat National 2 club Bourges Foot 18. The deal will be unveiled today at a press conference at Bourges Town Hall, with Mane already in touch with the mayor of the town.

It is reported that Mane has already ‘put his hand in his pocket’ for Bourges, who are 13th in the table, to recruit players and that a ‘sporting and social development project should see the light of day’ in the area.

Mane spent six years at Liverpool. Arriving from Southampton in 2016, the Senegal international scored 120 goals in 269 appearances and was a key player as Jurgen Klopp’s side won six major trophies – including the Champions League and Premier League.

Mane opted to join Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 but endured a difficult season. He netted 12 times in 38 games and was hit with a suspension and hit with a €500,000 fine after punching team-mate Leroy Sane in the dressing room following a Champions League loss to Manchester City.

The 31-year-old departed Bayern after just a year and completed a switch to Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr in August. He’s bagged eight goals in 18 matches so far.
