Liverpool Legends lineup finalized for March 23 Charity showcase

We have finally filled out the full squad as the Liverpool Legends get set to take on the Ajax Legends in Liverpool’s annual Charity Showcase.

It’s a mixed bag of some actual Legends and fan-favorites in combination with some former players that we all will recognize, but did not have the greatest of times at the club. The Headliner is of course Fernando Torres but he will be joined by some terrific names like Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez and Daniel Agger.

Kuyt made 285 appearances for Liverpool and scored 71 goals to go with 43 assists. Some of his goals were very, very important for the Reds. He had a habit of popping up at just the right times.

Agger made 232 appearances in Red and was one of the smoothest central defenders to grace Anfield in recent memory. His playing style would very much have suited what Jurgen Klopp loves doing today. He has some electrifying highlights for a central defender, it must be said.

Rodriguez wasn’t at Liverpool for more than a few years, but he was a useful player for his part. His best season came during the 2010/11 campaign when he made 28 Premier League appearances and scored 10 goals.

Liverpool Legends defeated Celtic Legends in this Charity match last spring, 2-0 as goals from Steven Gerrard and Mark Gonzalez got the job done.

Gerrard will not be appearing in this addition, but Gonzalez is included so he will be looking to make it back-to-back in front of the Anfield faithful.

Here is the full squad for the Liverpool Legends;

Goalkeepers: Jerzy Dudek, Sander Westerveld

The money raised from this Charity showcase will go to support the local Liverpool area, with a large percentage set to go towards growing education programs across the board.

The previous two Legends charity matches have raised £1.45m with 100% of the money raised for the local community.

Liverpool Legends versus Ajax Legends will kickoff on Saturday March 23 at 3pm GMT/9:00am CST.
