Good news for klopp?
Liverpool youngster Bobby Clarke made a brilliant comeback last weekend after a long injury layoff.
The midfielder scored the winner in the Reds Under-21s’ 2-1 win over Chelsea at the AXA Training Centre. Clarke came on after 13 minutes in his first game in two-and-a-half months and fired a fine effort into the far corner to give Barry Leutas’ side the three points.
Celebrating his return, he tweeted: “First game in 3 months, happy to win.”Clark has 3 goals and 3 assists in 6 games this season. The former Newcastle United midfielder has been sidelined with an ankle injury, meaning he will be left out of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad for the 2023/24 season.
Clarke played twice for Liverpool last season. He made his Premier League debut in a 9-0 rout of Bournemouth before beating Derby County in the Carabao Cup.The 18-year-old was involved in Manchester United’s preparations for the trips to Germany and Singapore, including the 4-0 friendly win over Leicester City.
Had Clarke been fit too, he would have had a slim chance in the Europa League group stage.
After Manchester United beat Toulouse 5-1 in October, Klopp said: With Bobby Clarke back from injury, Ben Doak is sure to get game time tonight. “We have a lot of good people and we really trust and rely on them.
“Meanwhile, Paul Glatzel opened the scoring for the Under-21s against Chelsea. The forward scored his fourth goal of the season at the end of October.
