Liverpool could struggle to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in January.
The Brazilian has been targeted by Liverpool until 2024, with the club keen to sign Luiz after an outstanding year at Villa.
Former Manchester City player Unai Emery has been instrumental in helping the team secure a top-four finish and Villa are not interested in selling Luiz in January. The news came via journalist Neil Jones.
This news could cause major problems for Liverpool as they look to sign Villa as the next step in their midfield rebuild. Jones: “Douglas Luiz is a player I like and one Liverpool looked at briefly in the summer of 2022.
His form at Aston Villa has been excellent and at 25 he fits Liverpool’s age group better than Kimmich . “The bottom line is that the villa is unlikely to sell and, given its financial capabilities, there is no need to sell it cheap.
“Liverpool have always struggled to sign Douglas Luiz in January.Villa have been the story of the Premier League season, with Emery turning the Birmingham club into a force in England’s top flight.
And for Liverpool, signing a player like Luiz as a key player for Villa was always going to be a huge task given how important the midfielder is to the Villains.
While the Brazilian is a perfect fit for Liverpool, the Reds would have to pay big money to bring Luiz to Anfield and Villa are unlikely to sell him to their Premier League rivals.
