Liverpool return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they face rivals Chelsea at Anfield. The Reds beat Championship side Norwich City in the last FA Cup, beat the Canaries 5-2 and were held to a fifth-round tie against either Watford or Southampton. But the club’s owners seem to have plans for one of their most important players as well. Liverpool’s board are doing all they can to ensure talisman Mohamed Salah stays beyond the summer despite Klopp’s departure, according to Football Insider.Saudi Arabia could also be interested in Salah this summer
The 31-year-old has emerged as one of the best players in the world in recent seasons, but attracted significant interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia last summer and looks set to do so again. Liverpool will undergo major changes this summer. Klopp’s entire staff and sporting director Jörg Schumatke are set to go with him. Professional League side Al Ittihad offered the Reds £150million for Salah in last summer’s transfer window, but the offer was rejected by the Premier League side. The Saudi outfit are said to be interested in the player, who has less than 18 months left on his current contract at Anfield.
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has appeared in 332 matches in all competitions for Liverpool, scoring 204 goals and providing 88 assists. Despite rumors that the player himself is keen on a move to the Middle East, the report claims that Liverpool’s owners do not want to lose Salah or Klopp during that time.
It was Liverpool’s first game since manager Jurgen Klopp announced his intention to leave the club at the end of this season, and club leaders are working hard to find a successor for the German.
