Van Dijk also won an incredible 21 aerial duels across the four league fixtures last month, demonstrating the Dutchman’s dominance in the air.

 

Diaz, meanwhile, has put in some much-improved performances, having struggled earlier on in the campaign.

The Colombian international scored two goals and provided two assists in February, contributing to victories against Burnley, Brentford and Luton.

Diaz’s increased confidence is demonstrated by the fact that he managed 11 successful dribbles; something that was the cornerstone of his game before he suffered a major knee injury last season.

With manager Jurgen Klopp having to deal with an unprecedented number of injuries, the continued presence of the club’s captain makes things a lot easier.

 

There is no doubt that the Reds’ form would have suffered massively if van Dijk wasn unavailable during this crucial period.

Diaz’s fitness is also key. The forward line has been decimated with the likes of Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah having been sidelined.

Brentford No.1 Mark Flekken was selected in goal, having made an incredible 32 saves across the course of February. Joining van Dijk in the back four is Luton’s Chiedozie Ogbene (who scored against Liverpool), Brighton’s Lewis Dunk and Arenal’s Jakub Kiwior.

There are two more Gunners players in midfield, with Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice included alongside Brighton’s Pascal Gross.

 

Up front, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins leads the line (having scored 4 times in February), with Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka and Diaz making up the rest of the lineup.
