Clutched one shot and almost released Salah for opportunity with long ball. Claimed a few high balls but otherwise a pretty quiet night.

Provided attacking support down the right and involved in the build-up to the first goal. Covered defensively when required.

Jarell Quansah 7

Solid enough when asked to defend and given invitation to step out of the back line on occasion. Booked and subbed.

Joe Gomez 7

Shifted to centre-back, misjudged one long ball but pretty much strolled through first half despite taking one heavy blow. Subbed.

Andy Robertson 7

Dealt with the dangerous Preciado and allowed those ahead of him to wreak havoc before break. Made the unusual move to centre-back in the second half.

Wataru Endo 7

Helped keep Sparta pressed back for most of the first 45 minutes with his tenacity and quick passing, but couldn’t stop Birmancevic from scoring. Subbed.

Dominik Szoboszlai 7

Good cross for Nunez sparked the early goal frenzy, pressed well and thumped in a deflected effort for the fifth. Will have benefited from minutes.

Bobby Clark 8

Fine pass invited Szoboszlai to assist the opener, tucked away his first-ever senior strike, pressing created a goal for Salah and almost scored another. This lad is the real deal. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 9

Simply too good for Sparta, netting a record-breaking 20th of the season and assisting three others. A remind of his consistent genius.

Darwin Nunez 7

Excellent finish for the opener and made a nuisance of himself, and one excellent pass released Salah. Missed good chance, however. Subbed.

Cody Gakpo 8

Confidence-boosting showing down the left flank and did well to tuck away the fourth goal and clever flick for the sixth. Denied hat-trick by one wayward finish and a good save.

Harvey Elliott (for Nunez 46) 7

Saw his effort diverted into a goal by Gakpo and had shot well saved in another lively cameo.

Gave Liverpool continued attacking presence down the left.

Got stuck into the midfield battle and more energy than his last outing.
