Liverpool player ratings for the 3-1 win over Fulham

The Reds got back on track with a big win on Sunday.

It turned out to be a much needed morale boost on Sunday as Liverpool leave Craven Cottage with a 3-1 win over Fulham following a much better performance from the lads.

Coming in, Liverpool needed a response and the changed Starting XI got the job done following a Trent Alexander-Arnold magical free kick to kickstart things. A late first half goal conceded by the Reds would not deter them as a forceful second half saw them bag two goals.

Ryan Gravenberch’s smooth strike from just outside the box was his first in the Premier League and proved to be the winner. Diogo Jota made it 3 just before coming off to seal the match away.

Let’s see how the players rated in the victory.

Alisson – 7/10 – It was a good day at the office for Alisson as he made a few fine stops throughout. The Fulham goal was sloppy all-round so not much can be put on him for that one.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8/10 – He was the best player on the pitch for Liverpool as he was at the heart of so many attacking moves. His brilliant free kick goal reminded the world of just how darn good he really is. Subbed.

Jarell Quansah – 6.5/10 – It was a professional outing from Quansah who was making his first appearance since the Old Trafford disappointment. He was calm on the ball and used his physicality to shut down some Fulham moves.

Virgil van Dijk – 7/10 – This was more like it from the Captain as he had endured a poor finish to last week. He was cleaning up all the messes at the back and he looked on point from start to finish.

Andy Robertson – 6.5/10 – Robbo had a rough start to this one as he was very loose in possesion which lead to some dangerous moves from the hosts. Grew into the game and by the end was everywhere creating and cutting out passing lanes.

Harvey Elliott – 6/10 – There was not a lot to write home about from the 21-year old in this one. His running and energy were on display once again but he did not do much in terms of leaving a big impact. Dragged an open shot wide.

Wataru Endo – 6.5/10 – This was also much improved from Endo who had been in a poor run of form. He broke up play with modest regularity and tried getting the Reds attack moving as soon as he could. Should bring some confidence back to his game.

Ryan Gravenberch – 7/10 – It was a big moment as the Dutchman got a rare start and he made the most of it. A largely pedestrian first half was forgotten when he scored his banger in the 2nd. Grew in confidence as things went on. A much needed good outing. Subbed.

Luis Diaz – 6/10 – Missed an open header very early on. However, was dangerous playing on the right side and dribbled multiple defenders throughout. A solid day, but not his best work. Subbed.

Diogo Jota – 6.5/10 – Won the free-kick for TAA’s goal and showed his finishing instincts with his late goal to ice matters. Was largely invisible outside of those two moments however.

Cody Gakpo – 7.5/10 – It was yet another strong showing from Gakpo as he continues to silence his doubters. He was constantly driving the attack forward and made himself available. Got an assist on the Jota goal. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah – 6/10 – Had a few half-chances that came and went. Put in an enticing ball that was just out of the reach of Nunez that would have been a good assist. Good day of rest and light work.

Darwin Nunez – 6/10 – Like Salah, the game was all but over when he came on and intensity levels had dropped. Missed a few chances but nothing egregious. Should start Wednesday.

Alexis Mac Allister – 5/10 – Was sloppy after coming on and gave the ball away which led to a threatening moment for Fulham. Perhaps should have rested the full day.

Joe Gomez – 5.5/10 – Did not offer much after coming on for Alexander-Arnold. Solid enough in defense but mostly just a routine few minutes.

Dominik Szoboszlai – N/A – Came on too late to make any sort of impact on the game. A good day of rest to reset his mind and get ready for Everton.
